Mexicana, Atlantis or Hollandia? All three are fresh magic truffles grown in the Netherlands, but they differ a lot in strength and character. Choosing the right one makes the difference between a gentle, joyful day and a deep, overwhelming journey. This guide compares the three side by side and helps you pick.

Mexicana: the gentle start
Mexicana is one of the earliest identified psychoactive truffles and was historically used in spiritual ceremonies. It’s known for a light, uplifting experience: brighter colours, laughter, a lighter mood and meaningful moments of connection, with mild visuals. Because it’s the mildest of the three, it gives beginners an extra safety margin, and it’s a good choice for a relaxed day with friends or in nature.
Choose Mexicana if: it’s your first time, you’re sensitive to substances, or you want a social, playful experience.
Atlantis: vivid and creative
Atlantis sits in the middle. It’s immersive yet approachable, known for enhanced colours, vivid visuals and creative thinking. Many people describe it as the variety where the experience clearly “opens up”, without being as all-consuming as Hollandia.
Choose Atlantis if: you’ve tried truffles before, you know how you react, and you’d like a more visual, creative experience.
Hollandia: the strongest
Hollandia was developed in the Netherlands to be one of the most potent truffles available. Expect strong visual distortions, a changed sense of time and self, and profound reflection that can turn familiar moments into something extraordinary. It’s beautiful for experienced users, but it can be overwhelming if you’re not prepared.
Choose Hollandia if: you’re experienced, you have a safe setting and ideally a sober trip sitter, and you’re looking for a deep, introspective journey.
Strength vs. dose: two dials
The variety is one dial; the amount you take is the other. A small dose of Hollandia can feel stronger than a larger dose of Mexicana. Our general dose table by body weight is based on Hollandia; for the milder varieties you need somewhat more grams for the same effect. Our dosage calculator takes the variety into account, and the dosage guide explains the levels.
